Jena Economic Development Agency focuses on training
All-round information for trainees launched on web portal
The wide range of vocational training opportunities in Jena are now more visible. The website work-in-jena.de, which is operated by the Jena Economic Development Corporation (JenaWirtschaft), now has a dedicated subpage on the topic of training. Young people will find a comprehensive overview of exciting job profiles with a focus on important Jena industries, general information and specific advantages of vocational training as well as current training positions at local companies and institutions.
According to Wilfried Röpke, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Jena, Jena's future as a business location depends largely on well-trained specialists.
"Jena's companies - whether in the skilled trades, manufacturing industry or service providers - need well-qualified employees. Many are committed to training their own young talent. We support these companies by showing young people the benefits of vocational training."
According to Röpke, around 60 percent of job applications in Jena are tailored to people with traditional vocational training.
More information, better orientation, optimal opportunities
The new category is now visibleas a separate menu item on the work-in-jena.dewebsite and offers detailed and personal insights into everyday working life in various professional fields. The almost 20 interviews with former trainees are particularly valuable - from geriatric care to automotive mechanics to process mechanics for glass technology. These individual experience reports provide authentic insights into the respective training and help young people to find the right training path.
"Vocational training is an essential component of regional economic strength. With the new training category on work-in-jena.de, we are creating more transparency and making the wide range of training opportunities in Jena more accessible to young people," explains Cornelia Meyerrose, Head of the Skilled Workers Service at the Jena Economic Development Agency. "The information is also absolutely relevant and available in German and English for people who are interested in a lateral entry into these professions or people with an international background who are considering training."
Current apprenticeship vacancies - automatically listed
The work-in-jena site also offers the well-known Jena job portal for the "Apprenticeships" filter. This means that all current apprenticeships offered by Jena companies and institutions are automatically read out and listed on a daily basis.
"The advantage for Jena companies lies in the automation," says Marina Flämig, Head of Marketing at JenaWirtschaft. "The jobs don't have to be laboriously uploaded to a portal, but are automatically read and displayed directly from the companies' websites."
In order to promote the new subpage work-in-jena.de/ausbildung, JenaWirtschaft is now also supporting the topic with a print, online and social media campaign.
