Getting to know future trainees during the Easter vacations

07.02.2023

Companies from Jena and the region wanted for the Jena Internship Week

For the third year in a row, the Jena Economic Development Agency and various partners are inviting Jena companies to take part in the next edition of "Internship Week Jena". During the Easter vacations, companies can introduce themselves and their professional offers to interested young people aged 15 and over directly in the company and thus get to know potential future trainees. The format is free of charge for the companies and is financed by JenaWirtschaft, the Jena/Saale-Holzland district craftsmen's association and OptoNet e. V. financed.

"Jena offers a wide range of career prospects from skilled trades to high-tech, and the best way to get to know this diversity is to do an internship here," says Wilfried Röpke, Managing Director of Jena Business Development. All Jena companies are invited, regardless of sector or company size, emphasizes Röpke.

The internship week uses an automated matching process on an online platform to bring companies and students together for one-day internships.

"The companies can register online free of charge and easily, participate flexibly on a daily basis and present their wide range of career opportunities," says Natalja Bajkovski from OptoNet e.V., explaining the advantages of the format.

The interested students are then automatically matched with offers from companies based on their interests and talents.

Anyone who took part last year can already log in to the platform www.praktikumswoche-jena.de with their familiar access data and post the current offers. For the first time, JenaWirtschaft is also offering short online information events for all interested companies before the start of the internship week.

"We will present the format in detail, support companies with registration and discuss initial ideas on how to organize an internship day," explains project manager Daniela Drilltzsch from JenaWirtschaft.

Interested companies can register by e-mail at daniela.drilltzsch@jena.de.

Evaluations from previous years show that the participating pupils are particularly interested in careers in the service sector, including in the catering and hotel industry as well as in media and marketing. In addition, there was a high level of interest in working with food, for example in bakeries or butchers.

"We would particularly like to encourage companies and businesses from these sectors to take part in the internship week and present their career opportunities to the next generation of skilled workers," says Manuela Vogt from the Jena/Saale-Holzland district craftsmen's association.

Participation is worthwhile, as the statistical evaluation from the previous year shows:

"Last year, 69 companies registered and over 100 pupils took the opportunity to 'get a taste' of a wide variety of professions in Jena on a total of 245 internship days," says Daniela Drilltzsch, pleased with the success of the format.

According to a survey, all of the students questioned said they would recommend the internship week to others.

Interested companies can find important information and register for the format on the website www.praktikumswoche-jena.de.
