Jena stronger than ever at leading trade fair MEDICA

The entire world of medicine and the healthcare industry will be meeting today at the leading international trade fair MEDICA/COMPAMED 2019 in Düsseldorf. Fifteen Jena-based companies and institutions will also be presenting their innovations and products. Around 120,000 trade visitors from 170 nations are expected to attend until Thursday.

Concentrated medical technology expertise

"It is remarkable how much bundled medical technology expertise is traveling from Jena, and it is increasing every year," says Wilfried Röpke, Managing Director of Jena Business Development (JenaWirtschaft). The 15 exhibitors from Jena play an important role as a mouthpiece for Jena as a city of light. "The companies act as important ambassadors for Jena as a high-tech location to their project partners, customers and service providers." Many of Jena's companies have been successfully marketing their products and services at the most important international meeting place for the medical technology and healthcare industry for years or even decades.

Promoting Jena as a high-tech location

In addition to the Thuringian industry association medways e. V., which is based in Jena, small and medium-sized companies such as oncgnostics GmbH, BioMed Jena GmbH, JeNaCell GmbH and zollsoft GmbH are also taking part. However, major players such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering, JENOPTIK Optical Systems GmbH, SCHOTT Technical Glass Solutions GmbH and Jena University Hospital will also be promoting Jena as a technology location with their trade fair appearances.

JenaWirtschaft has put together a "Jena Care Package" for all exhibitors from Jena, which includes various information materials about Jena as a business location as well as the Thuringian cuddly dumpling as a "gift". This year, the trade fair organizers are talking about a record participation of over 5,500 exhibitors from 69 countries, with trade visitors from 170 nations expected to attend.
