Bundled optics expertise from Jena at the "LASER World of Photonics 2022"
34 Jena companies present themselves at the leading trade fair for the laser and photonics industry
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the "LASER World of PHOTONICS", the world's leading trade fair for the laser and photonics industry, begins in Munich. There will be 34 companies and institutions from Jena, the city of light.
It is once again remarkable how much bundled competence from Jena in the field of optics and photonics is present at the leading trade fair in Munich,
says Wilfried Röpke, Managing Director of the Jena Economic Development Agency. The 34 exhibitors thus act as important ambassadors for Jena as a technology location, says Röpke.
The local optics and photonics industry in particular remains one of the most important growth drivers for Jena.
Industry association organizes networking evening
After almost two years of the pandemic, it is very important for companies to maintain personal contact with customers, suppliers and cooperation partners again,
Anke Siegmeier, one of the two managing directors of the photonics network OptoNet e.V., also knows this. The network manager is participating with the Thuringian cluster at a joint stand in Munich. Together with the member companies, they are already getting in the mood for a successful trade fair this evening at the "Photonics and Pretzels" event.
The mood among the Jena and Thuringian companies is confident, but the war in Ukraine is naturally overshadowing this event too,
says Siegmeier.
It is not yet clear what economic consequences are to be expected. However, supply bottlenecks, shortages of raw materials and rising energy prices are causing increasing problems for companies.
In addition to the large Jena-based companies such as Carl Zeiss GmbH and JENOPTIK, numerous small and medium-sized companies will be exhibiting in Munich. These include, for example, HERACLE GmbH, Gitterwerk GmbH and OPTIKRON GmbH. Jena's scientific institutions such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF) and the Friedrich Schiller University will also be presenting their products and services.
A total of around 900 exhibitors will be presenting their products in the fields of lasers, optics and photonics at LASER World of Photonics until 29.04.2022. The trade fair was last held in 2019 and was visited by over 33,000 international guests.
